Organic Food and Farm events - lots to do and see

We’re passionate about organic food and farming and with Whitmuir's year-round programme of Food and Farm events (see left) and our Farm Walks there's always something new to see, do and learn on the farm.
We hope you’ll enjoy our state of the art green building too, with its low carbon concrete, local larch and sheeps wool insulation to make it climate-friendly. Photovoltaic panels, wind turbine and ground source heat pump combine to make the whole project carbon-positive. Sounds worthy, looks beautiful.
Whitmuir Farm Walks
As a Soil Association open farm we positively encourage visitors to walk up through the farm and learn about organic farming.
We are a working farm with livestock (cows, sheep, pigs, hens and turkeys) any visiting dogs must be kept on the main path on short leads and they must be regularly wormed (within 3 months of visit).
We will be improving the farm signage to make this more visitor friendly. Farm staff will accompany people when they can, but this is not always possible. A guided walk usually takes place each Saturday at 1pm. Wellies always recommended. For keen walkers, there is a route through the farm and Grassfield Forest over to Eddleston and Peebles.
We enjoy hosting visits from schools, agricultural students and community groups and are happy to come and talk to your group about local and organic food. A guided walk for your group can be organised by arrangement. Please contact us to arrange your visit.

The Whitmuir Initiative
We have established the Whitmuir Initiative, a charitable Trust. The WI have secured £10,000 from Awards for All to fund The Scottish Bee Project - see above.
With the invaluable support of Peter and Joyce Jack and their fellow bee keepers, the project will run 8 bee hives, the observation hive and develop a programme of educational work on bee keeping.
We are also developing a medicinal herb garden, run by Julia Cook
